Hola, I’m Mariana!

Ballet Class Pianist
& Filmmaker

Born and raised in Spain, in 2006 I completed advanced studies in piano performance and contemporary music at the prestigious conservatory Musikene (Spain), when I began to focus my work on the intersection of music and other arts.

I envision a world where pianists have access to references that can help them feel supported and led as they play for ballet classes.

I’ve always been fascinated by the research and detailing of the collaborative pianist in dance, which is why I trained with renowned ballet pianists. My theoretical knowledge is now combined with my experience playing for worldwide dance institutions, my fascination with different cultures, and my desire to live an authentic life.

Since I started playing for ballet classes, I was stunned by the fact that every time I needed guidance or new ideas on how to play for ballet classes, I couldn’t find anything online and I had to ask a colleague or ask for a private class from a renowned pianist who most of the time was far away from me. Also, when I started to share my videos and tips on social media, I realized how other pianists appreciated what I was doing, and this gave me the courage to create an online course where pianists worldwide could access my knowledge and feel supported and connected.

Another factor that encouraged me to start this project was meeting more dancers and musicians playing for dance and getting to know other schools, companies and countries. I love discovering new places and new people and what that brings into my life. Living in a van was the piece that brought everything together, allowing me to travel around Europe in an easy way and having my beautiful home with me everywhere I want to go.

I invite you to browse this website to learn how I use tried-and-true approaches in playing the piano for dance and ballet classes, while also making room for exploration, spontaneity, and joy. I promise it’s filled with juicy resources on how you can also improve your experience as a ballet pianist!
